Position Summary
The Operations Manager oversees building maintenance and supports production departments to ensure efficient, consistent, and reliable operations. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and effective coordination with internal teams and external vendors.
Key Responsibilities
Building Operations:
- Manage daily building maintenance activities.
- Lead and schedule support personnel to maintain 24/7 coverage of critical systems.
- Oversee preventive maintenance and ensure prompt resolution of equipment issues.
- Coordinate maintenance programs and repairs with staff and vendors.
Compliance & Regulatory Record Keeping:
- Ensure adherence to environmental and safety regulations, including:
- Sewer Authority reporting and system maintenance (CBOD and pH specifications)
- Underground Storage Tank inspections and documentation
- Boiler reports and inspections (DEP) for boilers, chillers, and pressure vessels
- Fire protection systems, elevator, generator, and fire pump inspections
- Stormwater and air permitting requirements
- Community Right to Know (CRTK) reporting
Production Support:
- Collaborate with the Production Support Manager to resolve equipment issues in pressroom and prepress areas.
- Optimize production schedules and staffing for operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in operations management, building maintenance, and production support.
- Knowledge of compliance requirements (DEP, NJ State inspections, environmental permits).
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Work Schedule:
Full-time, with flexibility to ensure 24/7 coverage of building systems.

Overview:
The first step in the printing of newspapers is producing the printing plates the printing press uses to apply ink to the newsprint. The Platemakers receive the digital page files from the graphic designers and output (print) them to large laser printer-like machines that image the pages on to the aluminum plates. With over 2000 plates imaged every day, it is the Platemaker's responsibility to get the correct plates to the Press department, in the correct order, at the correct time.
Qualifications:
- Strong computer skills centered around communicating via email and IM.
- Able to learn specialized software used to output printing plates.
- Intense attention to detail - able to spot differences between similar file names.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Mechanically inclined to aid in troubleshooting equipment.
- Ability to stand and walk for hours at a time and to lift up to 40 pounds.

- Adapt to rapidly changing requirements and schedules.
- Solve problems analytically and act on your own initiative.
- Coach and reinforce learning to promote internal customer relationships.
- Accurately record time and materials used in production.
- Maintain platemaking equipment by following cleaning instructions.
- Inspect output materials to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Follow directions from work orders and perform other duties as assigned.
Safety Responsibilities:
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Complete required OSHA safety training programs.
- Ensure all machine safety-guards are installed and functioning properly.
- Report any safety hazards, operational concerns, and accidents/injuries immediately.
Communication:
- Provide timely and accurate reports to the operations team and management.
- Report equipment issues promptly.
- Must be able to read and write english fluently.

• Salary: The annualized base salary for this role will range between $75,900 and $140,300. Base compensation is reflective of many factors, including, but not limited to, the market in which one lives/works, individual education level, skills, certifications, and experience. Note: variable compensation is not reflected in these figures and based on the role, may be applicable.
